Jérôme Bel (FR)

Véronique Doisneau grew out of the encounter between two worlds: that of iconoclastic choreographer Jérôme Bel and that of the cradle of classical dance, The Paris Opera Ballet.

Jérôme Bel attended the company’s choreographic productions for two years and upon discovering this world, chose not to concentrate on the “étoiles” or “prima ballerinas”, but to focus on an artist of the corps de ballet. In the form of a self-portrait, Véronique Doisneau, who at the time was one year away from leaving the Ballet, evokes her situation as a ballerina, humorously revealing her preferences, the moments that caused her to suffer, those that filled her with joy, her reality…

concept Jérôme Bel co-produced by Opéra National de Paris with Véronique Doisneau with extracts of ballets from Jean Coralli e Jules Perrot (Giselle), Merce Cunningham (Points in Space), Mats Ek (Giselle), Rudolf Nureyev (La Bayadère – Marius Petipa / Le lac des cygnes – Marius Petipa e Lev Ivanov)
